Albums

Before Toto was formed the members of the group performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums and was criticized for its absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark its 20th anniversary. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the album. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings and also an interview with the group.
